Moms inspire, uplift and motivate us...but often, that’s just the beginning. We sat down with Super-Mom and Cellucor® athlete Whitney Perez, a combat medic in the National Guard, to discuss fitness, balancing mom life, and grab some of her top tips that we can all benefit from on our fitness journey. Spoiler alert: Inspiration below.
How did you get into fitness?
I’ve always been an athlete, into sports and fitness. But it was when I got into the military and my occupation as a medic that I realized how important it is to be physically fit. My fitness isn’t necessarily for me, it’s for the people to my left and my right. My reason for staying fit goes way beyond myself – it can be the difference between life and death for someone who needs me at the top of my game.
Walk us through the average day for you?
I normally get up around 5:15 am, get myself ready, and then wake up my 3 boys at 5:45 am. After getting them settled for school, I usually workout before work from 7-8:30 am. That’s how I get my day started, and also when I get my caffeine C4® Ultimate :). I work a full day, pick up the boys, and then it’s off to sports or activities for them. It’s homework in the car, shoving dinner in our face somewhere in between, and then get home to get everybody in bed.
How are you able to balance it all?
One thing I live by is that I may not always be motivated but I’m disciplined. I know it’s important for my health and overall well-being. It’s important for my job. It’s important for showing my kids, you just do it.
Do you have any tips or tricks that could help other people with their fitness goals?
The biggest thing I can tell everyone is it’s not easy. There’s a learning process to it and you find what works for you. And when you find it, you hone in. The biggest thing I can tell someone is to not give up, to try and try again. Because life isn’t easy, there’s always something that’s going to knock you over, but you get up and try again.

Do you have your kids live the same lifestyle?
They tend to get into the garage gym with me, and they lift with me. They try to follow in my footsteps. As far as eating, it’s a learning curve with kids, so one day they like it and one day they don’t.
What are your current fitness goals? Anything big on the horizon?
I walk in the gym every day and strive to be better than myself the day before; strength, functional fitness, and being a well-rounded athlete are goals I set daily.
