Bobby Holland Hanton: 16 Questions with the Cellucor Athlete



Bobby is a pro Stuntman who has worked on 35 full-feature movies including Thor, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, Captain America and many more! As a Stuntman, Bobby upholds an extreme level of fitness with skills including kickboxing, swimming, 10m high diving, gymnastics, trampolining, and scuba diving to name a few.

Bobby has won 5 SAG Awards, 2 Emmy Awards2 Taurus World Stunt Award nominations and a 2009 Guinness World Record for the most targets hit with a back somersault throw in one hour.

    Great question. just remember the goal you are trying to achieve and remember the great feeling you have once you finish each training session!
  1. What's the best workout program for getting jacked and being functional: strength or bodybuilding? Or is it a blend + nutrition? - Eddiejylee
    It’s a blend of it all. Mix strength training (i.e. chin-ups, dips, press ups, squats, etc) and exercises that isolate muscle groups (i.e., bicep curls, leg extensions, etc.). But 85% of success is your nutrition–eating well and frequently in small amounts.

    ry a chest circuit. So, say, four exercises, 15 reps. Weight doesn’t have to be too high but gets the burn going. One of the four exercises should be press ups!
  1. What is your opinion in consuming plant-based foods as a means to have and maintain a healthy body?? I also jog 5k 2 twice a week to work out my cardio. If you have any insight or suggestions I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you and Aussie Aussie Aussie Oy Oy Oy - Natashaastirling 
    Plant-based is amazing. Sounds as though you train a lot already, so keep that up and maybe add a weight training circuit in there once a week to make everything tight and feel stronger!

  2. What training programs were you on when you started, and what did you progress to as your strength and physique improved? With nutrition, what advice have you got for hitting your goals whilst eating clean and keeping your diet interesting? -Jordonjheath
    My background is in gymnastics so my muscle memory is pretty good. But as you get stronger, you should increase your reps and/or add another set. This will help you progress. Nutrition is so important but hard to maintain at the same time. But there are a ton of ways to get creative with clean eating--master the basics then look up some recipes to take it to the next level.

    ome lean protein with a little quinoa to keep your energy up and some clean veg and natural nuts–your intake of good fats are crucial.

    es, I was a gymnast, I still keep up with a lot of my own bodyweight stuff like chin-ups, dips, press ups, squats that help me stay strong and functional.

  5. What's your best mobility/flexibility drill and what's your best advice in order to become more flexible - Jonaspiechnik 
    I wish I was more flexible, to be honest. Due to injuries, I have lost a lot of the flexibility I used to have from gymnastics. But I’d say yoga and gymnastics helps a ton.

    prained ankles are difficult if you have torn ligaments too. It takes a while to let them heal with an intense physio. But it's all about listening to your body and taking note of swelling.

    wice a year is really not that out of the ordinary. I wouldn’t worry too much. But if it’s when it gets cold, it could be your immune system. See a doctor and have tests–you might be low on certain vitamins, etc.
