Ways to Avoid Training Burnout

When it comes to our fitness goals, we all start off with good intentions, and then months down the road, we burn out. Break the vicious cycle so that you can finally hit your fitness goals. Here's how:

1. Find an Activity You Enjoy

Make sure whatever you choose as your form of exercise, you actually enjoy it. If you dread something, you’re more likely to find or even create excuses to skip it. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should expect every moment of your training to be rainbows, sunshine and butterflies, but if you genuinely don’t like the activity you’re doing for your workout, find alternative ways to work on your fitness!

2. Effort Adds Up

Always bear in mind that every bit of effort you put forth DOES add up! I know at times our goals can appear daunting or as though reaching them is far off in the distance, but I promise that even when your schedule is packed and you don’t have time for your “normal” workout at the gym, the 15 minutes you put towards your fitness at home (or anywhere) today is far better than the gym workout you wanted to do but skipped because of a busy schedule.

3. Start Now

No matter where you are in your health & fitness journey, you have the power to start making changes RIGHT NOW. A healthier you doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul of all of your habits in order to get started but can begin with your very next meal and choosing healthier options for your next lunch or dinner. Start with small changes to daily meals and you’ll be surprised by how quickly you start to earn results!

4. Carpe Diem

Remember that each new day is a new opportunity to improve yourself in some way. Take it and make the most of it. Whether that’s adding five more minutes to your daily run, choosing fruit over ice cream, listening to a podcast or reading a book instead of zoning out on Netflix...every day provides us with another opportunity for us to improve ourselves in some way. Seize it!
