My goal at 320 pounds was to lose weight in order to go into law enforcement. The process was long, taking about 2 years to get to my ideal shape (190 pounds).
Throughout the initial process, I focused on high protein/fat and low carbs. I am currently weighing in at 215, as I am just finishing up my first ever bulk.
I would say the hardest challenge for me was finding ways to make healthy food exciting. Foods such as protein pancakes, low carb orange chicken, and even protein pizza have all been staples of my meal plans.
What motivated you to stay focused?
Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a huge influence and inspiration for me ever since I stepped foot in the gym. His workout plan was the first workout plan I ever completed. One of his quotes has always stuck with me, “You cannot fail forever. If you try ten times, you have a better chance of making it on the eleventh try than if you didn’t try at all.”
What would you tell someone who has the same goal?
The beginning is always the hardest part getting into that workout flow.
First, find that reason why you decided to lose weight, whether it’s a career goal, personal, or looking good naked, and completely immerse yourself in the gym and nutrition until it becomes just an everyday part of your life.
The first month is always hard when friends invite you out to eat and drink, or when the many factors of life kick in. However, just keep pushing until it becomes a natural way of living life.
What Cellucor supplements helped you stay on track?
My favorite product is definitely the COR-Performance Whey (Cinnamon Swirl). It's great in oats and protein pancakes. A must-have is also C4 Ultimate for pre-workout. I also take BCAAs for intra-workout. On a side note, I do recommend taking creatine, and glutamine every day to help with muscle gain and recovery.
What is your favorite healthy recipe that keeps you on track?
As far as recipes go, my protein pancakes are great for my sweet cravings.
I mix 3 eggs, 6 egg whites, a scoop of Cellucor Vanilla or Cinnamon protein, vanilla extract, a packet of stevia, a whole banana, and a half cup or 1 cup of oats in a blender. Just pour the blend into a skillet, cook 1-2 minutes each side, and add some sliced bananas.
