What is your goal?
My goal is to be in the best shape I’ve ever been while in Iraq. To be the one that is always willing to put in the work no matter what.
When did you start working toward your fitness goal?
I began my journey before I joined the Marine Corps 2 years ago. I knew I needed to be in top shape and I wanted to be the one that stuck out when it came down to performance.
Where are you in your journey currently?
Currently, I’m in the best shape ever so far. I have run a perfect 300/300 on the physical fitness test for the first time ever and I’m striving to improve myself in all aspects of fitness.
Any moments during your journey where you struggled? How did you pull through?
There were tons of lows throughout my journey. In the military, we’re always out training, or now in deployment, we’re working non-stop and sometimes we don’t get the sufficient sleep we need. There’s always a lack of motivation going around and all you can think about is just lying down and not doing anything. I always remember my goals and I've always looked at myself in the mirror and told myself I would never accomplish anything if I just gave up. So I just put my headphones in, drink up some C4, kill the gym, and leave knowing I held nothing back at all.
What advice would you give someone going through the same journey?
It’s the little things that can destroy you. The small things you let slide by is what gets in the way of your success. Don’t tell yourself “it’s ok to just miss this one workout”. Don’t ever underestimate yourself. You won’t know what you’re capable of 'till you try it. You just gotta say f*** it and do it, you won’t regret it after.
